Peter Hayter looks at how opener Rory Burns continues to impress in the England top order, even though his technique is far from textbook

After he bagged a pair of sixes in the inaugural Test against Ireland last month and, frankly, looked lucky to score that many, most observers agreed that whoever did end up opening the batting for England in the 2019 Ashes, Rory Burns should not.
All kinds of permutations were advanced, including the reinstatement as opener of Joe Denly, the 13th to be tried in the seven years since the retirement of Andrew Strauss, to partner Jason Roy, the 14th.
