THE current home Ashes series has inevitably revived memories of the famous contest fought in 2005 when England, led by Michael Vaughan, beat Australia 2-1 to regain the urn.
A major figure in the victorious England team was opening bowler Matthew Hoggard, the Yorkshireman with a blond mop of hair, whose expertise in swing and seam bowling claimed 16 wickets in the thrilling five-match series.
Hoggard, now 42, living and coaching in Leicestershire, enjoyed an outstanding Test career – 67 matches between 2000- 2008 during which he earned 248 wickets at 30.50 runs apiece...
