Travis Head has stolen a march on his Australian batting teammates by reaching a career-high in the ICC Test rankings.
And the 29-year-old has set his sight on top spot with the world No.1, New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, out of action due to a knee injury sustained at this year’s IPL.
Head began the current Ashes third in the rankings behind Australian teammates Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith.
However, the latter two have dropped down the rankings, to fifth and fourth place respectively – behind Pakistan’s Babar Azam – while Aussie opener Usman Khawaja lies seventh.
