There was a YouGov survey recently which gained some publicity by announcing that cricket is seen as the third most boring spectator sport in the UK, after golf (a long way after golf) and American Football. This must tell us something, but what exactly? The first figure to note is the proportion who have never watched a particular sport, where American Football (26 per cent) and basketball (22 per cent) are not surprisingly at the top.
