SURREY have been bridesmaids for the last three years but failed to even make it to the wedding this time, despite beating Glamorgan in their last group game.
The trophy they last won in 2011 continues to elude Rory Burns’ side, who came into the clash at the Oval reliant on results elsewhere to go their way if they were to sneak into the third qualifying spot.
Still, a 5,000-strong crowd was treated to a glimpse of the future as Surrey teenager Will Jacks savaged 80 to eclipse 21-yearold Connor Brown’s 98 for the visitors.
