VARUN Chopra’s ton ensured Essex kicked off their Royal London One-Day Cup campaign in style as they cantered to a 180-run win against Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens.
The opening batsman’s innings of 111 provided a perfect platform for the visitors, who finished their 50 overs on 326-7 before skittling the Welsh county for 146.
Chopra was backed up at the top of the order by former England captain Alastair Cook’s 40, while Tom Westley (69) and Dan Lawrence (56) also contributed.
