It might seem odd but emerging Yorkshire wicketkeeper Ben Birkhead will forever treasure a rained-off, dead rubber in the Royal London One Day Cup.
The 20-year-old gloveman made his debut as the White Rose’s match with Durham was called off 34 overs into his opening match for the first XI earlier this month.
He still had time to be involved in his first dismissal, snaring the catch behind the stumps to dismiss opener Ben Raine on 32.
Birkhead was proud for it to come off the bowling of Yorkshire legend and Ashes winner Tim Bresnan.
