Chris Gayle fined for ‘inappropriate conduct’

CHRIS Gayle has been fined £4900 by the Melbourne Renegades for “inappropriate conduct” after he asked a journalist for a date live on TV.

Gayle was speaking to reporter Mel McLaughlin following his dismissal against the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash.

Gayle said: “To see your eyes for the first time is nice. Hopefully we can have a drink afterwards. Don’t blush baby.”

The West Indian has apologised but believes the reaction was “out of proportion”, adding: “There wasn’t anything meant to be disrespectful or offensive to Mel. If she felt that way, I’m really sorry for that.
