OUR BEST ‘SCOOP’

OUR friend and colleague Martin Johnson had the knack of being funny without trying on and off the page. As with Tommy Cooper his mere presence could set you off and it did me for 30 years.
His passing in March was not a surprise but the shock of not having him around will be felt for some time to come.
All those who shared Press boxes with him have their own tall tales to tell. The sadness is he is no longer around to share them and to fall off his stool laughing at his own expense. RIP “Scoop”.
