Pakistan opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad will be charged later on Tuesday by the PCB for testing positive for a banned substance.
The national cricket body revealed last month that a player had returned a positive result to a routine doping test, but kept the identity of the player confidential until an additional chemical report had been completed, in line with ICC regulations.
Shehzad has been out of the Pakistan Test and ODI side since last year, but did appear in the two T20s played against Scotland in June. He scored 38 runs in the matches.
“Independent Review Board Report on doping case has been received by PCB. Cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has tested positive for a banned substance. PCB will issue charge sheet today,” the PCB confirmed via Twitter.
Details of what the illicit chemical is has not been disclosed as the PCB awaits proceedings against the player.
Shehzad will then have the opportunity to attend a hearing in front of a ICC Anti-Doping panel or waive his right to a hearing.
