Parrot stops play at Hinckley

CRICKET fans are used to rain stopped play but ‘escaped macaw stopped play’ might have been a first in Leicestershire this weekend.
Hinckley Amateur thirds hosted Hathern Old seconds at Swallows Green and during the visitors’ innings, a macaw from a nearby house ventured onto the field of play and settled on the shoulder of Hinckley bowler Tom Flannery.
The 67-year-old, who sports a beard, cut an unlikely figure as the bird enjoyed a couple of minutes on his shoulder.
