CALLS for Lord’s to honour Rachael Heyhoe Flint, the World Cup winner and England heroine who won women the right to be members of the MCC, has the backing of two former Prime Ministers, writes SAM PARKHOUSE.
Known the world over as the greatest pioneer for women’s cricket, Heyhoe Flint captained England to win the inaugural World Cup in 1973, and now has this year’s domestic women’s competition named after her.
She became a Baroness after retirement and left a huge hole in the cricket world when she died aged 77 in 2017. However, campaigns for a statue to be erected...
