Richard Edwards on the Somerset captain’s return to the ranks

County Captaincy can take its toll. So it’s little wonder Tom Abell was looking forward to this summer minus the stresses and strains of leading this Somerset side in the County Championship.
Abell called time on his career as captain back in November after a seven-season stint as skipper that included a One-Day Cup victory in 2019 and two runner-up finishes in the Championship First Division.
