FORMER LANCASHIRE and England fast bowler Peter Lever (below) has died at the age of 84 after a short illness.
Lever took nearly 1,000 wickets for his beloved county and was capped 17 times in Tests by England, as well as playing 10 ODIs, including the first ever.
He worked under Ray Illingworth as England bowling coach. He was part of the side that won ethe Ashes 2-0in 1970–71 and toured again in 1974–75, famously hitting Ewen Chatfield on the head in the subsequent series in New Zealand, leading to the Kiwi quick having mouth-to...
