Peter Richardson, who played for England between 1956 and 1963, has passed away at the age of 85.
Richardson, a batsman who began his career with Worcestershire before going on to play for Kent and England, scored 2061 runs for his country at an average of 37.47 across 34 Test matches.
The left-hander made a fantastic debut for England, scoring a half-century in both innings in an Ashes test in 1956 and went on to make 104 later on in the series.
Overall, he scored five centuries and 9 half-centuries in Test cricket, spanning seven years.
Richardson also played 454 first-class matches for Kent and Worcestershire, amassing 26,055 runs before retiring in 1965.
His death was announced on Kent’s official website with the statement: “Former Kent and England batsman Peter Richardson has died at the age of 85.”
