Glamorgan County Cricket Club have announced the signing of Pakistan opening batsman Fakhar Zaman.
Zaman, 29, is available for the first eight matches of their T20 Blast campaign.
That will mean Zaman could make his debut on July 18 against Somerset at Cardiff whilst the last match the 29-year-old can play is at home to Essex on August 9.
The overseas signing comes after Shaun Marsh suffered a broken wrist during Australia’s World Cup campaign.
Whilst Zaman had a disappointing World Cup campaign, scoring only 186 runs in eight innings, he is an opener with plenty of pedigree and experience in the shorter formats.
The opener has made 74 international appearances for Pakistan in limited-overs cricket and stated that he was happy to be playing for a “fantastic club.”
“I’m thrilled to sign for Glamorgan and look forward to playing in Cardiff,” Zaman said.
“I have fond memories of the ground from our Champions Trophy semi-final here in 2017 and look forward to making some new ones.
“Glamorgan is a fantastic club and hopefully I can put in some match-winning performances for the team during my stay.”
Meanwhile, Glamorgan’s Director of Cricket Mark Wallace was upset at losing Shaun Marsh to injury but delighted to welcome his replacement, Zaman.
“It is disappointing to lose Shaun Marsh for the start of the competition but to secure the services of Fakhar on short notice is great news for the club,” Wallace said.
“He is a fantastic cricketer and one of the most destructive batsmen in the world who has a history of performing in big matches.
“We look forward to him joining us later this week and hopefully he will be ready to play our opening fixture against Somerset and hit the ground running.”
Fakhar Zaman will be Glamorgan’s only available overseas player for their opening match with Shaun Marsh injured and fellow overseas signing Mitchell Marsh in Australia’s preliminary squad as they prepare for The Ashes.
