Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Abbas took 5-62 as he ran through the visitor’s second innings to secure Pakistan’s biggest ever Test win – by 373 runs.
Abbas registered his first 10-wicket haul in Tests, and the first to ever be taken in the UAE, to help inflict Australia‘s fourth heaviest Test defeat with only Marnus Labuschagne’s 43 offering any sort of resistance. With plenty of cricket to come in 2019 have a peek at these guys
Abbas’ remarkable start to his Test career, played largely in unfriendly conditions for seamers, has continued with his performances against Australia. The seamer now has 9 wickets at an average of 15.64 from a mere 10 Tests and this career average is the best in the last 100 years for someone with over 50 wickets and the fourth best ever.
Australia’s stoic effort to grind out a draw in the first Test is now in vain and the defeat means Australia have now gone six consecutive series in Asia without a win, last securing a series victory in Sri Lanka in 2011.
The result means Australia have slipped to fifth in the ICC Test rankings with England and New Zealand moving above them to third and fourth respectively.
