Botham among celebrities to putt under pressure

Europe’s number one golf retailer, American Golf, is cranking up the pressure on celebrity golfers with a new charity initiative.

The American Golf Pressure Putt Challenge places the putting skills of household names to the test in aid of the On Course Foundation, a charity supporting the recovery of injured and sick Service personnel and veterans through nationwide golf events and employment in the golf industry.

Other stars to have taken part in the challenge so far include Manchester United legend and treble winner Peter Schmeichel and horse racing great Sir AP McCoy.

Sir AP McCoy: does the championship jockey have nerves of steel? Find out here.

Stars taking part in the American Golf Pressure Putt Challenge have just 60 seconds to sink as many consecutive putts as possible, moving back 2ft after each successful putt.  If they miss, then it’s back to the beginning.  American Golf will make a donation to the On Course Foundation after each celebrity completes the challenge, the bigger the score, the bigger the donation.

To view the current celebrity leaderboard and watch all of the celebrity videos visit www.americangolf.co.uk/pressureputt – American Golf will be sharing new videos from stars of stage, TV, sport and film here on a weekly basis.

All Golf fans can also test their nerve, take on the celebs and participate in the Challenge at American Golf stores across the U.K.  The player with the best score at each of the 11 participating stores at the end of July will be invited to The Belfry in September to take part in the Grand Final of the Pressure Putt Challenge to play for big prizes.
