Chris Jordan hands Sussex boost by committing through to 2019

England bowler delighted to extend stay at club he ‘has grown to love’

Chris Jordan has signed a contract extension with Sussex which will keep him in Hove until the end of the 2019 season.

The international enjoyed one of his best seasons on the south coast this year when he took 52 wickets in the and scored 483 runs.

Respected for his abilities in limited overs , Sussex director of cricket Keith Greenfield explained that Jordan was central to his plans in returning the county to Division One as much as to their hopes of success in the One-Day Cup and Blast.

“It’s fantastic that CJ has signed a contract extension, further committing his future to the ,” said Greenfield.

“He is becoming a key, senior figure in the squad and is playing an important role in developing the younger group.”

Jordan, 29, moved to Sussex from Surrrey four years ago where his stock as an international player has grown, and though still on the right side of 30 the alluded to his excitement at passing on tips to Sussex’s core of young .

“I’m delighted to be extending my stay here at a club I have grown to love,” said Jordan, who has played in 8 Tests and 31 ODIs for England.

“There is a lot of talent here and I’m looking forward to winning trophies with this great club.”

Sussex finished fourth in this year’s County Championship; 42 points behind champions Worcestershire and 26 points off promoted Nottinghamshire.
