Covid-19: Yorkshire cancel deals for India star Ashwin plus Pooran, Maharaj

Yorkshire have cancelled the contracts of overseas stars , Nicholas Pooran and Keshav Majaraj by mutual consent due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

Ashwin, the ‘s fifth-ranked Test all-rounder, will not pull on the this summer having originally agreed to play in the .

West Indies -batsman Nicholas Pooran was set for a second stint at Headingley as Yorkshire’s overseas player while South African left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj was due to appear in the county’s first two red-ball against Gloucestershire and Essex.

Yorkshire’s Director of Cricket Martyn Moxon said: “I really appreciate the players’ understanding in this matter.

“We have been in regular contact with the players and their agents throughout this Covid pandemic.

“They have been extremely professional and appreciate the uncertainty facing counties at present.”

On Friday the English professional season was postponed until July 1st at the very least.

Nine rounds of County action will be lost as the currently looks for holes in the calendar to reschedule England internationals as well as remaining domestic red and white ball fixtures.
