Surrey’s bowling attack produced a day-four blitz to bowl out Lancashire six runs shy of their target and strengthen their title hopes.
The dramatic victory for Surrey was described by captain Rory Burns as a ‘seriously hard-fought win’ and saw them claim 21 points to pass their 2017 season’s total of 163 points.
South African star Morne Morkel fuelled the comeback by the Championship leaders at their home ground when Lancashire required 94 runs to win with five wickets in hand.
Resuming on 177-5 at the Oval in this top versus bottom of the table clash, Lancashire had Steven Croft and Josh Bohannon at the crease.
