Northants sign Matt Coles on temporary deal from Essex

Northamptonshire have snapped up all-rounder Matt Coles on a one-month loan deal.

A new arrival at in 2018 after leaving , Coles played a role for Essex in the One-Day Cup but is yet to feature in the .

Joining the set-up at the Ground makes Coles eligible to play in their four fixtures coming up over the next month.

Coles is likely to will straight into action for Monday’s match against , with Leicestershire, and to follow.

“Essex have a strong squad with good depth, and it’s been frustrating not playing,” he 29-year-old told the Eagles website.

“I’ve been presented with a great opportunity to go to Northamptonshire on loan and hopefully during my loan spell I can get plenty of wickets and and get back to doing what I do best.”

Northamptonshire assistant coach Phil Rowe added: “He’s a talented all-round cricketer. He’s a player we’ve admired for a number of years, he’s a big character and brings a big personality.”
