Indian Prithvi Shaw became the youngest Indian in to hit a century on debut on Thursday as he took just 99 balls to register the feat during the first Test against in Rajkot.

Shaw beats the previous record of Abbas Ali Baig who was 20 years and 131 days old when he struck a century against at in 1959.

The 18-year-old is also the fourth youngest in the history of the game to achieve the feat and the second youngest Indian to hit a Test century, behind the legendary .

Shaw fell for 134 in the end as racked up an imposing first innings score of 649-9d, also scoring his 24th Test century while Ravindra Jadeja registered his maiden Test ton.

In reply, West Indies crumbled to 94-6, Mohammed Shami the pick of the India with 2-11 from his six overs.
