Rangana Herath retires from limited-overs cricket

has retired from limited-overs international to focus on his career.

The left-arm spinner has played with knee injories over the past few years and was generally only part of the limited-overs side when a major tournament was nearing.

Herath, 38, have 74 wickets from 71 while he played a key role in Sri Lanka’s victorious 2014 World campaign. In total, he has 18 wickets from 17 matches.

Herath said: “In the next eight months or so, we’re scheduled to play something like 12 .

“I think retiring from the shorter formats is the right move, because that will allow young players to be groomed for the next , as well as lowering my workload and letting me concentrate on Tests.”
