Riki Wessels ends eight-year career with Notts to join Worcestershire

“A difficult decision to make”

have completed the signing of Riki Wessels on a three-year deal from .

The experienced 32-year-old has been central Notts’ competitiveness in first-class and limited overs , scoring 10,740 runs and being a part of the white-ball double-winning of 2017.

The decision by Notts to release Wessels from his contract follows the arrivals of emerging youngsters  – from Worcestershire – and Zak Chappell.

“Leaving Nottinghamshire was a difficult decision to make,” Wessels conceded.

“I’ve spent eight years at and enjoyed being part of successful teams that challenged for trophies but now is the right time for me to make a change.

“Worcestershire will provide a new challenge and I’m really looking forward to starting another chapter of my career at a club that I have a lot of admiration for.”

Director of cricket added: “We’d like to thank Riki for his contribution to the side over the many years he’s spent here at Trent Bridge.”

“However, both parties feel that now is the right time for a change and for Riki to move on.

“We wish him luck for the future.”
